A cover letter that makes your goal clear.

Use your own motivation and real examples to explain your application. Structure your letter with four focused ideas and review every paragraph before sending it.

Prepare my cover letter
01

Tailor the letter to the opportunity

Read the vacancy or programme description first. Identify responsibilities, teaching methods or activities that interest you. Explain why this employer or institution is a good match for your goal, instead of reusing a general letter with no reference to the offer.

02

Use four focused ideas

Describe your interest, one specific aspect of the organisation, a real example supporting your application and your next goal. School projects, volunteering or placements can provide relevant evidence when you are starting out. Avoid statistics, achievements and personal claims you cannot substantiate.

03

Review each suggestion

Write directly or open the helper for a paragraph. Your own answers are used to prepare editable wording in the chosen document language. Adding a suggestion keeps the existing text, and the addition can be undone. Check grammar, names, recipient details and consistency with your CV. The helper does not automatically translate free text.

04

Keep the presentation concise

Use short paragraphs and a simple layout. Europass recommends keeping a cover letter to one page. Review the preview before exporting your document. The recipient’s requirements take priority, including any prescribed form, file format or supporting documents. You decide how to submit the final application.

Useful questions

Can the interface and letter use different languages?

Yes. Select French, English or German for the document and write your answers in that language.

Will the tool apply on my behalf?

No. It prepares a document for you to review. You submit it yourself using the organisation’s application procedure.
